A New Encounter Between Art and Automobiles, Resonating with the Spirit of “CRAFTED”
B-OWND at LEXUS
-
Overview
B-OWND organized a series of exhibitions at Lexus dealerships, presenting artists produced by B-OWND. Though automobiles and art may appear to belong to completely different worlds, the exhibitions revealed their shared dedication to creation, materials, and craftsmanship. Visitors were invited to experience Lexus’s philosophy of “CRAFTED” through art.
The exhibitions were held in special spaces designed for Lexus owners and invited guests, while all featured works were also made available for purchase via the B-OWND website, offering a broader audience the opportunity to encounter art. -
Exhibition Series: Stories Woven by Multiple Artists
“B-OWND at LEXUS” unfolded as a relay-style solo exhibition series, where each artist’s unique worldview resonated with Lexus’s refined spaces to generate new value.
-
First Exhibition: Mieko Noguchi — Mysteries of the Universe Captured in Glass
The series began with glass artist Mieko Noguchi, who has spent nearly 30 years pursuing the cosmic mysteries embedded in glass. Her works captured the grandeur of the universe within the medium of glass.
-
Second Exhibition: Hiromine Nakamura — Prayer & Player
The fourth-generation Hakata doll master, Hiromine Nakamura, presented works that reinterpreted tradition. His “Athlete Series,” created during the postponed 2020 Olympics, embodied the essence of dolls as vessels of “prayer” while depicting modern sports players.
-
Third Exhibition: Takahiro Koga — Ceramics of the Age of Upheaval
Rising ceramic artist Takahiro Koga, known for his “anti-wabi-sabi” stance, showcased works inspired by samurai cheek armor and adorned with studs, expressing resilience and determination amid the adversity of the COVID-19 era.
-
Fourth Exhibition: Nami Takahashi — Asymmetry
The final exhibition featured ceramic artist Nami Takahashi, who explores the natural beauty of asymmetry. Her works in pure white porcelain—ranging from flower vases to sake vessels—embodied sculptural forms that transcend human capability, resonating with serene elegance.
